In 2004 Deryk attended the RNC convention in New York City. A Republican thug was video taped kicking a female protester as she was held to the ground by three Secret Service agents. Deryk Schlessinger is a number one suspect because Laura Schlessinger never released 2004 photos of her son to clear him of suspicion. And he looks like the thug seen kicking the female. Other suspects emerged and denied they kicked the girl or were on video. The matter was never resolved.
After a purge, little information on this convention history remains:

It was so disturbing to certain people that several thugs made bomb threats. Laura Schlessinger published a column in the Santa Barbara News-Press on November 2, 2006 where she did not condemn the violent threats that were to take place during an opening event packed with clients and families. Her tacit approval is irresponsible support of thuggish behaviors and bomb threats. She offered a letter about how self-censoring is necessary and an "or else" reason to self-censor...
